A very good documentary. A man whose exploits and mixed bag of achievements, among other things, brought the East and West the closest to nuclear stand-off than any other time during the Cold War.

I really like Benicio Del Toro. I think he’ll bring the much needed gravitas to the role. However, I think none of these films can replace the work the author has done on the biography, as refered to throughout this film: including even finding his burial place.

In 1959 communist soldiers arrested a peasant who refused to give up his land, along with his young son who fought to protect him. They were taken to the La Cabana prison, where Guevara was executing prisoners in the yard, and thrown into a cell with many others. Later, they were taken into the yard and Guevara shot the father in front of the son and the cells exploded with criew of “Spare him! He’s just a boy!”, which turned to jeers and insults when Guevara shot the boy dead.

When apprehended in Bolivia, by Green Beret trained commandos, Guevara begged,”Don’t shoot! I’m Che! I’m worth more to you alive than dead!” May that bloodthirsty, merciless, cowardly little self-described “cold-blooded killer” burn in hell.
