And now these noble MEPs, unlike the British MPs, who only have our best interests at heart are attempting to squeeze the EU Lisbon Treaty through before David Cameron gets a chance to become Prime Minister and turn things around (assuming he even would).

Meanwhile Gordon Brown hangs on desperately like the last machine gunner with a bullet in his throat, he’s losing blood fast but he’s determined to hold the bridge until these Nazi’s arrive to cross it in force...

I had the pleasure to watch and meet a group of Estonian bell-ringers quite recently. It was an amazing performance. It sounds stupid but I’d recommend bell-ringing to anyone. The Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairy was probably my favourite. When I left I felt like I’d dreamt the whole thing.

Are things changing?

I recently returned from abroad. I arrived at Luton airport to the sight of the Daily Telegraph proclaiming “A Very British Revolution”. The news that the corrupt MPs caught thieving from the British tax payers purse are to be reprimanded is warming; hearing the usually thuggish, arrogant tomes of the piously ignorant Gordon Brown eat humble pie across the radio networks was sweet music. However, I am not convinced.

The international mainstream media are currently engaged in a viscious battle with independent and free internet-based media. The potential spoils are no less than our very own minds, the possession – even – of our souls. Many of them have lately been running “conspiracy type” stories to try and catch a slice of the internet pie. Only hits can justify the rates for their advertisers, one of their last standing sources of revenue. Rupert Murdoch, head of News Corporation, recently illustrated this as he vowed the end of the “free internet”: the mainstream media is a dinosaur mired in the mud. It’s death is going to be slow; it’s agonizing shudders of pain, like a severe bout of every flu pandemic it has ever manufactured, will be felt throughout the old order. Who knows what knee-jerk reactions, what slavering, rabid lunges from the leash this demise may create; but die it must and, eventually, will.

American television-based media are deploying smoke screens and decoys left right and centre to bleed and smother topics, evidently of utmost contemporary concern, the alternative media have made their well-rounded and widely – even if often secretly – respected reputation on.

Recently, British MPs were embroiled in attempts to raise their salaries, tax those (to the tune of 50%) that earn more than themselves, and ban public intrusion into the details of their expenses. Now they seem to be clammering over one another to humbly ‘accept’, deny, or deflect responsibility for the atrociously arrogant and childish nest-feathering at the expense of the comparatively honest and underpaid British worker.

Meanwhile, however, the bankers seem to go unpunished: their multi-million pound pensions unretrieved, their sickening bonuses paid.

In the US the overly celebrated and ignorantly defended Barack Obama perpetuates pro-corporate Bush policies under the banner of ’socialism’; while in the UK the Tory leader David Cameron proposes a Tory leadership to heal the drastic wounds British democracy has sustained since 9/11/2001, when we all know he works for exactly the same people Gordon Brown does.

Things appear to be changing. But what is really happening? Is it really that the powers-at-arms sense the real changes happening around them? While there may have been no riots, no protests, no burning cars or rubber bullets – no “summer of rage” as yet – they know power is slipping out of their hands, fast: they just have to look at any poll undertaken by any think-tank or media-outlet unwilling to fiddle the figures.

There is a massive crisis of faith in government and private sector leadership. What am I saying, though? There always has been. But now there is a massive and ever-expanding awareness of the ultra-capitalist elite that truly govern our affairs. Now, it appears, there is a gargantuan effort of the instiutions of the old machine to feign change, to play the part of revolution. The very largest, most deeply set cogs in this prehistoric, reptilian machine are beginning to turn again. The earth is shaking; the gigantic snake is shedding its skin. But it remains to be seen whether we will all simply recognise the same cold creature adorned in its new comely colours.

The old paradigm is compromising out of necessicity. In an effort to retain control and keep real change at bay it is shirking and shrugging off middle-management layers. It is, begrudingly, having to appease it’s true, but weary and sadly deluded, master: the public.

One thing I will say, it is encouraging to see this wobble in the matrix. It is a balking within the forward ranks of the enemy. We can only keep up the pressure. We must urge what little integrity we have left among our journalistic elite to thrive now on the information available to them, as it has been to us for so long.

Most of all we must not fall for this feinting tactic. We must purge the system of this sickness and regain control for the sake of our children and the spiritual survival of man.

Let the battle for truth and freedom and the prosperity for all human kind commence.

“We think that debt has to be seen from the standpoint of its origins. Debt’s origins come from colonialism’s origins. Those who lend us money are those who had colonized us before. They are those who used to manage our states and economies.

Colonizers are those who indebted Africa through their brothers and cousins who were the lenders. We had no connections with this debt. Therefore we cannot pay for it. Debt is neo-colonialism, in which colonizers transformed themselves into “technical assistants”. We should better say “technical assassins”.

They present us with financing, with financial backers. As if someone’s back could create development. We have been advised to go to these lenders. We have been proposed with nice financial set-ups. We have been indebted for fifty, sixty years and even more. That means we have been led to compromise our people for fifty years and more.

Under its current form, that is imperialism controlled, debt is a cleverly managed reconquest of Africa, aiming at subjugating its growth and development through foreign rules. Thus, each one of us becomes the financial slave, which is to say a true slave, of those who had been treacherous enough to put money in our countries with obligations for us to repay. We are told to repay, but it is not a moral issue. It is not about this so-called honour of repaying or not.

Mister President, we have been listening and applauding Norway’s prime minister when she spoke right here. She is European but she said that the whole debt cannot be repaid. Debt cannot be repaid, first because if we don’t repay, lenders will not die. That is fore sure. But if we repay, we are going to die.

That is also for sure.

Those who led us to indebting had gambled as if in a casino. As long as they had gains, there was no debate. But now that they suffer losses, they demand repayment. And we talk about crisis. No, Mr President, they played, they lost, that’s the rule of the game, and life goes on. We cannot repay because we don’t have any means to do so. We cannot pay because we are not responsible for this debt. We cannot repay but the others owe us what the greatest wealth could never repay, that is blood debt. Our blood had flowed.

We hear about the Marshall plan that rebuilt Europe’s economy. But we never hear about the African plan which allowed Europe to face Hitlerian hoardes when their economies and their stability were at stake.

Who saved Europe? Africa. One rarely mentions it, to such a point that we cannot be the accomplices of that thankless silence. If others cannot sing our praises, at least we must say that our fathers had been courageous and that our troops had saved Europe and set the world free from Nazism.

We are in a crisis today because masses refuse wealth to be concentrated into a few individual’s hands.

We are in crisis because some people are saving huge sums of money on foreign bank accounts that would be enough to develop Africa. We are in a crisis because we are facing this private wealth that we cannot name.

Popular masses don’t want to live in ghettos and slums. We are in a crisis because everywhere people refuse to repeat the  problems of Soweto and Johannesburg.

There is a struggle, and its amplification worry those with the financial power. Now we are asked to be accomplices for a balancing. A balance favouring those with the financial power. A balancing against popular masses.

No! We cannot be accomplices. No! We cannot go with those who suck our people’s blood and live on our people’s sweat. We cannot go with them in their murdering methods.

Mr President, we hear about clubs – club of Rome, club of Paris, club everywhere. We hear about Group of Five, Group of Seven, Group of Ten, and maybe Group of A Hundred. And what else? It is normal that we too have our own club and our own group. Let’s Addis Adeba becoming from now the center from which will come a new breath. A club of Addis Adeba.

It is our duty to create an Addis Adeba’s unified front against debt. That is the only way to assert that refusing to repay is not an aggressive move on our part, but a fraternal move to speak the truth.

Furthermore, popular masses of Europe are not opposed to popular masses of Africa. Those who want to exploit Africa are those who exploit Europe, too. We have a common enemy. So our club of Addis Adeba will have to explain to each and all that debt shall not be repaid. And by saying that, we are not against morals, dignity and keeping one’s word. We think we don’t have the same morality as others… [to be continued]“

“You Have Used Me as a Fish Long Enough- In this episode, the history of brainwashing and mind control was examined. The angle pursued by Curtis was the way in which psychiatry pursued tabula rasa theories of the mind, initially in order to set people free from traumatic memories and then later as a potential instrument of social control. The work of Ewen Cameron was surveyed, with particular reference to Cold War theories of communist brainwashing and the search for hypnoprogammed assassins. The programme’s thesis was that the search for control over the past via medical intervention had had to be abandoned and that in modern times control over the past is more effectively exercised by the manipulation of history. Some film from this episode, an interview with one of Cameron’s victims, was later re-used by Curtis in his The Century of the Self. The title of this episode comes from a paranoid schizophrenic seen in archive film in the programme, who believed her neighbours were using her as a source of amusement by denying her any privacy, like a pet goldfish.”

“The Attic- In this episode, the Imperial aspirations of Margaret Thatcher were examined. The way in which Mrs Thatcher used public relations in an attempt to emulate Winston Churchill in harking back to Britain’s “glorious past” to fulfil a political or national end. The title is a reference to the attic flat at the top of 10 Downing Street, which was created during Thatcher’s period refurbishment of the house, which did away with the Prime Minister’s previous living quarters on lower floors. Scenes from The Innocents (film) the adaptation of The Turn of the Screw by Henry James are intercut with Thatcher’s reign“
