“On the Desperate Edge of Now- This episode examined how the various national memories of the Second World War were effectively rewritten and manipulated in the Cold War period. For Germany, this began at the Nuremberg Trials, where attempts were made to prevent the Nazis in the dock—principally Hermann Göring—from offering any rational argument for what they had done. Subsequently, however, bringing lower-ranking Nazis to justice was effectively forgotten about in the interests of maintaining West Germany as an ally in the Cold War. For the Allied countries, faced with a new enemy in the Soviet Union, there was a need to portray WW2 as a crusade of pure good against pure evil, even if this meant denying the memories of the Allied soldiers who had actually done the fighting, and knew it to have been far more complex. A number of American veterans told how years later they found themselves plagued with the previously-suppressed memories of the brutal things they had seen and done. The title comes from a veteran’s description of what the uncertainty of survival while combat is like.”

“You Have Used Me as a Fish Long Enough- In this episode, the history of brainwashing and mind control was examined. The angle pursued by Curtis was the way in which psychiatry pursued tabula rasa theories of the mind, initially in order to set people free from traumatic memories and then later as a potential instrument of social control. The work of Ewen Cameron was surveyed, with particular reference to Cold War theories of communist brainwashing and the search for hypnoprogammed assassins. The programme’s thesis was that the search for control over the past via medical intervention had had to be abandoned and that in modern times control over the past is more effectively exercised by the manipulation of history. Some film from this episode, an interview with one of Cameron’s victims, was later re-used by Curtis in his The Century of the Self. The title of this episode comes from a paranoid schizophrenic seen in archive film in the programme, who believed her neighbours were using her as a source of amusement by denying her any privacy, like a pet goldfish.”

“The Attic- In this episode, the Imperial aspirations of Margaret Thatcher were examined. The way in which Mrs Thatcher used public relations in an attempt to emulate Winston Churchill in harking back to Britain’s “glorious past” to fulfil a political or national end. The title is a reference to the attic flat at the top of 10 Downing Street, which was created during Thatcher’s period refurbishment of the house, which did away with the Prime Minister’s previous living quarters on lower floors. Owing to the extraordinary immaturity of the practices of our present Government here in the UK, I can conclude only that their nefarious posturings are a prelude to something disgusting and outrageous beyond our imagining.

Given the recent litany, globally, of dodgy laws, taxes, the rescinding of good laws, pseudo-scientific hoodwinking, mass building of prisons, illegal military invasions, lies, propaganda, corporate profits, socialization of debt, oppression of information, cross-party alignment to industrial centrism, amassing of police power against even their advice or wishes (including the ex-director of MI5, ex-heads of Defence of various European nations, CIA and FBI), mafia collusion, apparent state-sanctioned murder, militarisation of police, state-sponsored terrorism, mass economic coralling, covert nation-wide surveillance, illegal spying, abuse of terrorism laws, tasers, tasering of men women, children, pregnant women, economic survival declared primary over human rights (Hilary Clinton), photographing of police declared illegal (condemened by even the Chief of the Metropolitan Police), the collusion of internet giants – Google mainly – with fascist government paranoia and their manipulation of media statistics to influence public opinion, media stone-walling, the gradual – and now complete – oligarchic control of Western media, Obama policy reversals minutes through the White House door, the revealing of secret public official and corporate and financial head meetings, the now indisputable establishment that the Federal Reserve is a private company (and the Bank of England?), among other things, I’m finding it harder and harder to conclude anything otherwise.

The year 2000 has been extraordinary, I have to say. It has seen almost every nightmare of every literary and academic mind of the 20th Century come to light like some sort of hideous gore-fest kaliedoscope laser party.

I used to respect Baudrillard for his essay ‘Simulacra’ but looking back now he didn’t even scratch the surface. Read Virillo’s ‘The Original Accident’. Much more in-line with present day goings on but admittedly with the benefit, comparatively, of some hindsight.

Thursday, Feb 5th, 2009 The London Telegraph is continuing to run a crude propaganda piece in its arts and culture section that depicts nuclear attacks on major cities, the formation of a world government, and a police state crackdown on citizens complete with concentration camps and the implementation of martial law. As we revealed in our original article, the first installment of the gallery entitled Operation Blackjack featured on a section of the Telegraph website dedicated to art, culture, film and music but seemingly held no artistic credence whatsoever, comprising merely of a series of crude pictures designed to instill fear into the viewer. Part 2, which we covered in a second article, cannot even be considered to have a plot, it just shows a series of major cities being nuked and then amateurish photo-shopped images of Nazi-style symbols on flags and police uniforms. Now a third installment of the baffling piece depicts the fallout of nuclear attacks on London, New York City, Washington DC, Toronto, Mexico City, Portland, and Los Angeles. This time the piece has been photoshopped in the style of a comic book, perhaps in a poor attempt to give it the impression that it has some artistic merit. The Telegraph received a great deal of complaints after our first two articles. One of the first images shows a map marked Teardrop – Eyes only which features the flag of the newly formed Union of North America (UNA) – a new government composed of America, Canada, Mexico and Britain. Some men in suits, presumably representatives of the UNA are looking at map and the glasseye reports, which constitute the scale of destruction wrought on the attacked cities. These men seem to be pleased with situation stating this has exceeded our wildest expectations and calling for phase 2″. Clearly from this we are supposed to deduce that these men, representatives of the new world government, are somehow involved in the events that have taken place, despite the fact that we were told religious extremist terrorists were the culprits. The next set of images depict an announcement by the UNA to citizens everywhere that the union has begun carrying out military attacks on China, Syria and Iran, who are now apparently somehow also to blame for the earlier nuclear attacks. Several more images show a state of martial law has been implemented and that concentration camps have been set up to hold collaborators and presumably anyone else who refuses to go along with the program. Another image shows an Amero coin, indicating the creation of a new global currency. What is the point of Operation Blackjack, why does it continue to run in the arts and culture section of a major British newspaper? Is someones sick fantasy being afforded exposure on a major UK newspaper website or are we being prepared for something? Could it be that in the fictionalization of false flag terror, the creation of detention centers and the push for global government, someone is attempting to relegate such real world issues to the pages of a comic book? As we previously highlighted, the rude and hostile response to people who have attempted to get clarification from the Telegraph only deepens the mystery.
